About Hoodoo
Hoodoo是广州举办时间最长久的Techno活动，也是中国南部Detroit Techno的发源地。
他们的焦点一直集中在保留他们最喜欢的Techno文化方面——爆发性的Techno、黑胶DJs、现场硬件演出、挑衅的视觉——以及充满活力、元气的舞池。
除了邀请一些国内最好的Techno人才，Hoodoo还带来了Developer，Benjamin Damage，Sunil Sharpe，和Hiroshi Watanabe等国际重量级人物到他们的活动。并曾经在Oil作为Support DJ与Lucy，Kangding Ray，Zadig，DJ Stingray，Perc和Oliver Ho(Broken English Club)同台。

Techno正在中国开辟疆土逐步成长壮大，而Hoodoo也开始着手发行唱片，以便于引起更多，对于这个一直不断克服各种困难而成为如今电子音乐历程中最新鲜的中国场景的注意力；同时也为保持底特律techno的精髓经久不息蓬勃发展。

Hoodoo is the longest running techno event in Guangzhou and the home of Detroit techno in South China.
The collective focus has been on preserving their favourite aspects of techno culture – intelligent music, dj craft, live hardware, provocative visuals – and always with energetic, atmospheric dancefloors.
As well as hosting some of the best domestic techno talents, Hoodoo have also brought international heavyweights such as Developer, Benjamin Damage, Sunil Sharpe, and Hiroshi Watanabe to their events as well as supporting Lucy, Kangding Ray, Zadig, dj Stingray, Perc and Oliver Ho at Oil.
Hoodoo began its journey when friends and founding members fell in love with techno at Voodoo in Liverpool in the late 90's. Back then, masters like Jeff Mills, Surgeon and Dave Clarke were the pioneers teaching and transforming the understanding of what was possible in dance music and what was important.
Those friends would later run an electronic music festival called Hoofer Doofer and, when they moved to China a decade ago seeking adventure, they would go on to start a small techno event in a small bar, with a small but loyal crowd, striving to spread the quality of that certain type of dance music -techno with a forceful, futuristic funk. They found friends and found support and through hard work the party grew.
Techno in China is growing, the boundaries are broadening and Hoodoo now move into releasing records to help bring attention to a Chinese scene that has grown against all odds to one of the freshest in electronic music's evolution and furthermore, to keep the essence of Detroit techno alive in the blossoming arena.
Exclusive Technology EP Release
Mervv首张个人EP，《Exclusive Technology》，是他为Night Rites compilation EP所做贡献的后续。《Exclusive Technology》是一张纯粹的Techno唱片—一张缜密的、戏剧性的、克制的三曲EP。底特律极简主义的血液贯穿始终，也是Mervv制作水平的有力证明。
这三首都是具有空间感、以旋律为主导的曲目，让DJ在表演中创造出集体思考的空间。简单的编排使精心构建的复杂声音得以闪现。
Mervv 的live set有着中国Techno圈中最闪亮的律动。每一条声轨都是实时组装的，为了从头至尾提供一种有节奏、有目的性的乐段。一段神秘的，极简主义的芝加哥–底特律之旅为House和Techno之间带去了灵感，他的每首歌都会邀出下一首，更类似于DJ sets，而非典型的人+机器的现场表演。

Mervv’s inaugural solo EP, "Exclusive Technology", comes as a follow-up to his contributions to the Night Rites compilation EP. “Exclusive Technology” is a purist's techno record - a three track EP of thoughtful, dramatic, restraint; the lifeblood of Detroit minimalism pulsing throughout - and a strong statement of Mervv’s production calibre.
All three are spacial, groove-driven tracks for the cultured djs that find room in their sets for collective thought. Simple arrangements that allow carefully constructed complex sounds to shine through.
Mervv's live set is one of the brightest grooves around on the Chinese techno scene. The tracks are assembled in real time to provide a rhythmic, purposeful passage from start to finish. A journey of enigmatic, minimalistic Chicago and Detroit inspired house and techno, each track inviting the next, more akin to a DJ set than a typical man+machine live performance.
Mervv's live set has evolved as it has been performed around the dancefloors of China. Whether Oil or Zhaodai, TAG or Elevator, the crowd switch on.

Void & Hoodoo Together Forever

To celebrate the EP’s release, long-time collaborators and comrades from the Hoodoo and Void crews have teamed up once again. A shared passion for the exuberance and free-expression inherent to techno culture has united the two crews for nearly a decade. Their mutual dedication to DJing as a craft and a desire to maintain underground values has pushed them to throw many fantastic parties over the years, this one included. Expect them to bring the heat.
The last Hoodoo party at Elevator was full of joyful chaos, so the only option was to take it even further for round 2.
Mervv (Live)

Mervv is a little romantic and a little gritty. Rough but warm. Like a bear hug. Weird textures, classic drums mangled and pushed to their limits, lovely harmonies. His spirit belongs in a sweaty basement.
He's played frequently in China and Germany, at places like Oil, Floating Island, Elevator, 44kw, Tag, Ost-Apotheke, and many other small but lovely clubs.
Shanghai Ultra
Shanghai Ultra 自从2005年搬到上海后成为了中国地下最有影响力的techno DJ，他在中国的名声就像他在中国的反商业行为一样，他的声音又一次震撼了无数的舞池。
他曾在上海的传奇俱乐部 - Shelter 做了九年的常驻DJ，不断引领中国地下house和techno 夜晚超过了数十年。每月一次的Void Shanghai活动在中国被广泛认为是同行中最棒的组织。

Shanghai Ultra is one of China's most influential and respected underground techno DJs. Based in Shanghai in 2005 after relocating from Scotland, his reputation as a champion of underground culture precedes him in China where his sound has rocked countless dance floors time and time again.
Resident for 9 years at Shanghai's legendary Shelter club, he was co-founder of VOID - China's leading underground house and techno night for over 10 years. The monthly Void Shanghai event is very widely recognized as the best of its kind in China. SH Ultra and his Void crew have been a huge influence on Chinese techno scene.
VOID was the first regular party in China dedicated to proper techno when it was launched in 2007, bringing many seminal artists to China for the first time including Juan Atkins, Robert Hood, Surgeon, DJ Bone, and Neil Landstrumm, Underground Resistance and Token Belgium. Ultra's challenging and provocative sets have defined the techno scene in China. Ten years ago minimal dominated dance floors, yet SH Ultra remained ahead of the curve, pioneering a dark and hard techno sound.
A decade later everyone is playing this style in underground clubs all over China every weekend. Yet his powerful and uncompromising DJing, intuitive understanding of rhythm and refusal to follow trends keeps him ahead of the curve. An outspoken critic of the culture of DJ-worship, the masked DJ is even better known as a music producer and for live hardware performances using Roland's iconic Tr-909 drum machine and SH-101 synth.
